Split storage without taking photos

Photographing a recovery phrase feels convenient until the camera roll syncs, a phone is repaired, or a relative scrolls through pictures looking for a birthday shot. Split storage should reduce single-point failure—not create a third, cloud-shaped copy.

Use two boring sites

Pick Site A and Site B that fail differently: for example, a home fire safe and a sealed envelope at a trusted relative’s apartment. Avoid storing both copies in the same building “for convenience.”

Write cues, not content, on the index

Your Secure Seed Phrase Organizer index can list “blue envelope / left drawer / torch needed” without listing words. Keep the actual phrase only on the durable medium you chose.

Skip the camera during placement

When you place materials, put phones in another room. If you need a reminder of furniture layout, sketch it on paper after you leave the site.

Verify with a rehearsal

Once both sites are set, run the household drill from Phrase Ledger Foundations. If someone cannot find Site B without asking you, rewrite the cue card.
